Molecular Dynamics
Our research uses laser-based experiments to detailed insight into the dynamics of molecules in the gas phase. We are interested in improving our understanding of how molecules interact through weak forces which underpin fundamental processes such as solvation, cluster formation, protein folding and chemical reactions.
Materials Development
Our lasers are being used to develop controlled and precise manufacturing processes for new nanomaterials. A manufacturing process using graphite and lasers is being developed to produce materials for future applications whilst also minimising waste and pollution.
Energetic Materials
The power and precision of our lasers is being utilised in the development of safer alternatives for those working with explosive materials in the mining and defence sectors.
